Just a Stonesthrow away…

She stood there wondering…
It was a beautiful day,
Leek Town all around her
Just a stone’s throw away...

The Townhouse stood proud
Majestic and smart,
But it was time for adventures
So for now, they must part.

To the left maybe?
To cafes and bars
The buzz and hubbub
And very few cars.

The beautiful monument and
Architectural tour,
Antique shops and markets
With treasures galore.

Or the right? more peaceful…
The library and park
For kids, dogs and skaters
up till when it gets dark.

Or further afield?
Not far to the peaks...
With so many trails there
You could walk for weeks.

The closest the roaches,
You can see them from Leek!
Whatever your fitness
They are worth a good peek.

 
So many other
Good trips and tours,
So much she could see
This place never bores...

Of course, Alton Towers
With all its great rides,
Or Coombes Valley Reserve
With all its bird hides.

Dimmingsdale Forest -
The chained oak on view,
Watch out for its branches
They mustn't fall through!

Or for adrenaline
There is plenty to do,
With reservoirs all around us
Why not hire a canoe?

The climbing is awesome
Up at Ramshaw rocks,
Or take a canal trip
If you can handle the locks.

But she settles on a dog walk
Ending up in a pub,
And is glad to come back for
A long soak in the tub…
